Yahoo Deal: Verizon Buys Yahoo For $4.8 Billion

>> Reports are floating around in the digital world that the Yahoo deal has been finalized as it has been bought by Verizon Commucations Inc. in a $4.8 billion deal. The buyout announcement will be made this Monday before the start of 
NYSE.
 The dark fate for Yahoo Inc is not going to end any sooner. Its constant fight for existence in the world wide web, of which it was a pioneer in its early days, has been going on since the last decade.  The company has been facing ups and downs all these years, unable to traverse in a particular direction.
The appointment of Marissa Mayer as the CEO was assumed to be a ray of hope. People expected that Mayer would lift the company from drowning in the ocean of internet which requires extreme innovation and hard work to stay above the water. Behind Mayer’s lead, Yahoo went on to purchase around fifty startups including the $1.1 billion Tumblr purchase. Yahoo has still managed to get an Alexa rank 5 and receives around 700 million views per month.

Yahoo rejected Microsoft’s acquisition offer in 2008. There is another Yahoo acquisition news that has grabbed the attention of the tech folks around the world. This time, the most likely buyer is Verizon Communications Inc, the American telecom brand behind the GigaPower. Reports from Reuters suggest that the auction deal is assumed to be of around $5 billion. The deal, if completed, will enable Verizon to come up with a combined version of their AOL and the newly added Yahoo services.
The buyout announcement, which includes Yahoo’s internet services like mail, search, advertisement, Tumblr, etc. and real estate, will be made before the start of New York stock market on Monday this week. However, no comments were made by Yahoo and Verizon.
Yahoo – founded by David Filo and Jerry Yang in 1994 – was the leading search and mail provider before the Google era. The Google creators Sergey Brin and Larry Page offered their company to Yahoo for just $1 billion but Yahoo declined the offer. Now, Google has reached the heights where Yahoo can never possibly reach.
This is another big acquisition news which has come days after Avast bought AVG. Let’s see what destiny has planned for Yahoo. Will it be just another Verizon subsidiary, or will it again rise to the clouds of success?
