Indian Government Launches Mobile App On World Blood Donors Day

Blood-donors-day-appOn the occasion of World Blood Donors Day on June 14th, the government has launched a mobile application for quick and easy access of information regarding the nearest blood bank in the country.
For this purpose The National Blood Transfusion Council has made available directory of all 2760 licensed blood banks at National Health Portal. The ministry of Health and Family Welfare has made available the data of all 76 blood banks in Delhi NCR and 524 blood banks from across the country and the process of uploading data of remaining licensed blood banks in the country is under process and will be made available soon.
The National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare observed the “World Blood Donor Day “on June 14th under the guidance of National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC).

The “world blood donors day” is an attempt to praise the efforts of the blood donors’ whose noble actions help save millions of lives every year. The ministry hopes to raise awareness about the blood donation by observing this day.The theme for this year’s campaign is “Thank you for saving my life.” a press release by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said that the slogan for this year’s campaign is “Give freely, give often. Blood donation matters.With this step the information regarding the availability of blood in the nearest blood banks will be easily accessible to millions of smartphone users throughout the country.
